The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention Framework for Successful Messaging is the result of collaborative work and contributions from across the suicide prevention and mental health communities.
The Public Awareness and Education (PAE) Task Force of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention is leading this effort. The PAE has two subgroups that are working to advance the Action Alliance priority of “changing the public conversation about suicide and suicide prevention.” The co-leads for the Framework subgroup of the PAE Task Force are Mark Weber (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) and Jack Benson (Reingold, Inc.) A complementary set of initiatives focused on changing media coverage of suicide is being pursued by the media subgroup of the PAE Task Force, co-led by Brian Dyak of the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. and Joe Sullivan of Facebook, Inc.
Coordination and staff support are provided by the Action Alliance Secretariat, part of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), and staff from the co-leads’ organizations, including.
